GoWhys Editorial Standards

These standards explain how GoWhys develops travel guidance, evaluates recommendations, handles business relationships, reviews published information, and corrects errors.

Our editorial purpose

GoWhys exists to help travelers understand why a choice may or may not fit their circumstances. Our answers should explain meaningful advantages, limitations, tradeoffs, and alternatives instead of simply promoting the most popular or commercially convenient option.

Useful guidance should remain useful even when it does not lead to a booking, purchase, or Trusted Partner.

Local knowledge and factual development

GoWhys begins with people who have relevant local and industry knowledge. New Orleans guidance draws on the experience of the RideTHISbike LLC staff, who collectively bring more than 100 years of knowledge of the city's hospitality and tourism industry.

As GoWhys expands, we will seek knowledgeable people who live or work in each destination. Local knowledge may be supplemented by official information, direct observation, reputable sources, and facts supplied by the businesses or organizations being discussed.

When facts are uncertain, incomplete, or dependent on a traveler's circumstances, the answer should acknowledge that uncertainty rather than present an assumption as settled fact.

Factual review by Trusted Partners

Trusted Partners may review factual information about their own businesses because they are often the most knowledgeable source for their services, operating areas, policies, qualifications, and customer experience.

Partners may correct objective errors and identify missing context. They may not dictate GoWhys conclusions, remove legitimate disadvantages, control comparisons, suppress reasonable alternatives, or require a recommendation. GoWhys retains final editorial authority.

Prepublication factual review may be requested when practical, but it is not guaranteed and does not transfer editorial responsibility to the partner.

How recommendations are reached

Education comes before recommendation. A business should be surfaced only when the facts and the traveler's likely needs indicate that it may be a strong fit.

A Trusted Recommendation is not a claim that one business is best for everyone. The guidance should explain who may benefit, who may not, what limitations matter, and when another choice may be better.

Commercial, ownership, referral, or other relevant relationships should be disclosed where they could help a traveler evaluate a recommendation. A relationship does not guarantee favorable coverage or determine the editorial conclusion.

Reviews, updates, and publication dates

GoWhys uses an event-driven, risk-based review process rather than promising that every page will be reviewed on the same schedule.

Pages are reviewed when credible new information becomes available. Subjects that can change frequently, including transportation, safety, pricing, hours, and regulations, should be reviewed more often than stable explanatory material.

Publication and modification dates should describe real editorial activity. A page's date should not be changed merely to make older information appear fresh.

Human knowledge and supporting technology

GoWhys is created and reviewed by people with relevant local and industry knowledge. Supporting technology, including AI-assisted tools, may be used to organize information, check technical consistency, and improve clarity.

These tools do not determine recommendations, select Trusted Partners, or replace human judgment. Every published page remains the responsibility of GoWhys and RideTHISbike LLC.

Editorial accountability

GoWhys is owned and published by RideTHISbike LLC. GoWhys is responsible for its published conclusions, its disclosure of relevant relationships, and its adherence to these standards.
